Vitamin D Vitamin D (also known as the Sunshine Vitamin) helps regulate the amount of calcium and phosphate in your body. These nutrients are needed to keep bones, teeth and muscles healthy. Further to this Vitamin D plays a crucial role in keeping the immune system in its top functioning form. Vitamin D is produced naturally in the body when we are exposed to sunlight and it is also found in some foods such as egg yolks, oily fish, red meat and foods fortified with Vitamin D. During the summer months we should all be getting enough of this Vitamin naturally from the sun, however, in the darker winter months we don’t. Due to Covid-19 a lot of people are finding themselves indoors more often and less exposed to the sun, so if you are thinking about using a Vitamin supplement, we would recommend taking Vitamin D. 10 Micrograms a day should be ideal for most people.
